Your first treatment with the osteopath
We can offer you a fast and efficient emergency treatment at our London osteopathy clinics. As with most medical conditions, early diagnosis is vital in achieving a speedy cost effective recovery as delays in diagnosis of many conditions can impede recovery by weeks. Many of the conditions that we treat can be found on our Conditions page. Your emergency appointment may take 45 minutes, at the end of which, we will advise you about further treatment if necessary.
You will have a private consultation where the osteopath will spend time taking a thorough medical history. All your details will be handled with the strictest confidentiality. This gives the osteopath a background about your health, such as surgeries, accidents, the onset of your condition, and other details affecting your current health.
A thorough orthopaedic, neurological, and osteopathic examination is performed. Based on the findings, the osteopath will decide whether any additional investigations are necessary before treatment can begin, such as X-rays, MRI, CT scans and urine or blood tests. In some cases it may also be necessary to contact your GP.
After reviewing all the information the osteopath will use only the techniques appropriate to your condition. Manual techniques where the osteopath uses their hands, such as Specific spinal adjustments, soft tissue techniques, massage, cranial and other gentle techniques can decrease pain, improve joint mobility, decrease muscle spasm, reduce nerve interference and improve circulation increasing your health. After treatment, many patients report increased general wellbeing -not just improvement with the problem that made them turn to osteopathy in the first place.
Report of Findings
After reviewing all the information the osteopath will provide you with a confidential written report and answer the most important questions:
